Your Questions About Fiverr

William asks…

How can I make a Market Place Website like www.fiverr.com or www.ebay.com with a Shopping Cart System?

shoqy answers:

The fastest and easiest way is to use an open source shopping cart, such as OSCommerce, ZenCart or Virtuemart, but you still need to have a good knowledge of PHP and MySQL just to make the site work.

Sharon asks…

i want sites like fiverr?

I want more sites like Fiverr which pays you for your work
please suggest some leggit sites
thanks in advance

shoqy answers:

Hi, You can try TaskArmy.com which is a fiverr for professionals. All the gigs are priced at $99.

Nancy asks…

Whats the deal with fiverr.com?

I have been looking at fiverr.com for people to market my website, and i am quite impressed with market my website, and i am quite impressed with what ive read. Whats the catch?

shoqy answers:

There doesn’t seem to be a catch. I can find MANY web forums that are saying good things about this site, and I can’t find a single person saying it’s bad at all, or sounding like a spokes person promoting the site. So I’d go ahead and give it a try if I were you, I bookmarked it and may do it myself, lol.

James asks…

experience using fiverr?

Fiverr is a cheap site altenative to Elance?

shoqy answers:

I would say Fiverr and Elance target different types of services. Elance is more for bigger projects and Fiverr is more for small tasks.

If you are looking for an alternative between bigger projects from Elance (requires hiring step) and Fiverr (some tasks can’t be done for just $5), give http://taskarmy.com a try.

Carol asks…

Are there any other sites like fiverr.com?

I’m looking for a site like fiverr.com, but I want to charge about $20 for my gig. I found a couple, but they were deserted. Is there any popular site where I can offer my service?

shoqy answers:

Try http://taskarmy.com, you can enter any price and offer ongoing/hourly services too.

Your Questions About Internet Traffic Cop

Mary asks…

Are MA traffic stops that end without any action recorded? Do they show up on background checks?

OK, so here’s what went down. I answered a personal from a 24-year old woman (I’m 20). She liked my response but wanted me to know that she has muscle spasms due to a disease and that I shouldn’t be horrified.

She told me that she had a private apartment attached to an assisted living facility just so that medical care would be nearby (she can’t drive). She had internet, AIM, email, phone, etc. She posted several photos on the web.
So I picked her up right in front of her place. Nothing happened.
Zero connection! So I drove her back to her building, let her out of the car in front of some police (thinking nothing of it). Suddenly these cops are swarming my car. I’m like “what did I do wrong?” They tell me that she’s not allowed to leave the premises because of some mental condition (she never told me). So they keep me waiting (“kidnapping”) and then let me go, telling me that I’ll be arrested if I come back.

I was conned by this girl. Is this ever going to surface?
I’m not sure what they considered it. The officers certainly didn’t charge me with anything! But they did seem rather unhappy, which I could hardly blame them for being.

The odd thing is that the cops never talked to me in the 45+ minutes I sat in my car. I motioned to them behind me that I wanted to talk (I had printed out our AIM conversation setting up the date because I needed the address), but they ignored me. The cop told me to “leave women alone!”… Ah, I got conned by this psychopath!

“Kidnapping” sounds a little unprovable. She placed an ad, called me back, gave me a false story, planned the entire charade, told me where to meet her, walked to my car, got in, was gone for an hour, and I brought her back — in front of the cops. Great “kidnap” plan! I’m not exactly a predator, but they treated me like one — never mind that SHE planned every aspect of her “kidnap” and solicited ME to meet! I relied on HER statements from the start. My only crime was being naive.
I just talked to one of my police friends in another state and he was floored by how this was handled. He was like, this place lets psychopaths have 24/7 internet access, lets them walk out the front door, and then the cop blames me? The cop said that she constantly escaped and posed as someone else, but I should have “known better”. He wondered why the cop held it against me that a completely rational-sounding, convincing, person with a history of this thing was allowed to use the internet, escaped, and conned me into a joyride.

shoqy answers:

The way our department would record that is that your name would be documented in a report on the issue, but apparently no charges were filed, so you would not have any criminal history. A simple check of agency report databases would return your name, but again, this would not result in a criminal history.

Sharon asks…

Is this stupid to get a traffic ticket for?

My parents have to go to court tomorrow for this witch I think is stupid, Here is the situation, around last year, in the start of November 5th I think it was, we where pulling out of the parking lot in Giants, and we wanted to go out, and we did, So when you pull out of the shopping center, it’s like a stop light, and we where behind this SUV van, and a lady was standing there with her baby, we thought they where just talking, cause you know how people ask for directions, but later we found out there was a wreck, because the car was little in front of the big SUV car, so, the cop did not have his lights on, he was parked two streets away, he was kinda of a prick, and we did not know so my dad beeped the horn, for the lady to move so we can turn around, and then the cop comes running to the car, and said hey you don’t beep the horn there is a wreck here, so snobby sounding, my mom never got into trouble before with tickets, at all, and he was just screaming like a maniac, he was a young guy to, and then he gave us a ticket for blowing the on for non sense, well we thought the lady was just talking we did not see there was a wreck to my mom talked to the lady, and then the cop made us wait there for like few longer minutes everyone thought was where broke down.

Then when the copy was behind us, he turned his lights on and finally after the last minute, but the thing is though, What do you think of that?

We just wanted the lady holding the baby to move out the way, and we did not see fully what was going on, and also, my mom did not want to sign a ticket unless there was another officer out there, so we called one out and then he writes us another ticket saying refuesed to sign ticket, I think that was dumb, my mom was worried about it the entire time, and then my parents have a court date tomorrow, what do you think and my mom went on the internet and there aint no law for blowing the on,
jeez sorry for the mistake in spelling no one is perfect, but yes this is all that happen my mom did sign the tickets, and that was all.
he was just out of control.

shoqy answers:

Go to court and fight it, if the van did not have flashers on and the cop did not have his lights on, you have every right to toot the horn. You could not see what was going on and it is against the law to get out of your car at a light to check. The horn is to get attention she got their attention and they should have just said hey we have an accident please drive around. The cop should have understood. Rookies are usually unreasonable trying to make themselves a name. Your mother should have signed the ticket without asking for another cop to be present. But that is not unreasonable either. What state is this?

Never argue with cops that is what court is for, just sign you ticket and save the fight for court. Always write your stuff with word and spell check to avoid the anal spell checkers online.

Betty asks…

Should my fiance contest his traffic ticket?

My fiance slipped on a back road during the night of a sudden and terrible snow storm and drove his car into a ditch. The cops were called and he received a ticket for failure to maintain reasonable control ($168.) The roads were not plowed, salted, or maintained in any way. He was going 15 miles an hour and still slipped into the ditch. The cop that gave him a ticket told him to contest it. But I think its a damn stupid idea. Because he will not only have to pay the ticket, but he will have to pay court fees AND get publicly humiliated buy the judge. I say, he should just pay the ticket, take his lumps, and get on with his life. What do you think, Internet? Should he chance it? Or should he just pay the ticket and be done with it?

shoqy answers:

He probably won’t be able to get the ticket dropped, but if he goes to court he can take the chances of having his ticket price reduced. I’d say getting a reduction in a fine is better than paying out of pocket with no chance.

Joseph asks…

Has technology really benefited Americans as a whole or is it our demise?

Thinking about our unemployment in America, and I thought of the millions of jobs eliminated by computers. Seriously, not as many paprer shufflers (sort of speak) in offices. Robots in manufacturing REDUCING thousands of jobs. Video cams reducing the need for traffic cops. Hi-tech garbage trucks reducing the need for man power. Even the internet taking its toll on the newspaper industry. I realize it has created jobs also, but I believe it has eliminated for MORE jobs than it created. Blue collar workers are becoming closer to extinction than the polar bear. Is technology going to be American’s demise?
Good point polar bear. As unbelievable as this sounds, I read a book-”future shock” 40 years ago. It predicted that jobs like yours, garbage pick-up,plumbers,electiricians,truck drivers, etc. will be some of the highest paid jobs in America by 2020. It is amazing that this book written 40 yrs ago, has been so accurate to date.

Michael asks…

‘You can have it all if you want it, you can have it all if you want it so much’ – who sings this song?

I’ve just watched Traffic Cops’ and one of the guys that was arrested was singing this song. Then the programme played the real song by the real singers, as background music.

I’ve searched the internet and can not find the song. It had a really good melody and I want to buy it!

The chorus seems to go:
‘You can have it all if you want it
You can have it all if you want it so much
You can have it all if you want it
You can have it all if you want it so much…’etc

Does anyone know what this song is and who sings it??

Your Questions About Local Seo

Paul asks…

How much does SEO usually cost and how long should it take to get on page 1 for competitive phrases?

My domain/website is 3 months old. Our website is currently on page 7 of Google for a keyword phrase that gets about 74,000 local searches. Also, what is a reasonable amount to be paying for quality SEO services?

thanks

shoqy answers:

Hi Cliff,
Unfortunately there is no set answer to your question of how much you should be paying, without knowing a lot more info. I know that sucks, but it’s the truth. Anyone telling you otherwise is really just guessing – or is quoting for an amount of work that may or may not get you ranked successfully.

When I do SEO work, if I have a serious enquiry before I quote anyone I need to know their exact website and the keywords they are targeting. I will then do the following:
1) Check where the site is ranking currently for the main keywords.
1) Complete an analysis of what is wrong/right with the customers website than can be fixed easily.
2) Complete an analysis of keyword density and many other on page factors of the site, compared to the the top 10 sites in Google for that keyword.
3) Do a brief check of the amount and quality of incoming links to the site
4) Repeat for the top few results in Google, to see what their link profiles are like in terms of quality/quantity.

Only once the above or a variation of it is completed will an SEO specialist actually know how competitive the keyword is and the quality of the competition they are trying to beat (amount of searches has little to do with it). Once you know that, you can work out how much work has to be done and how much time/effort that will take.

A reasonable amount (as you mentioned) will depend on all of the above. In some really competitive niches like hotels for example, some of the top sites actually employ TEAMS of people, working FULL TIME on their SEO. If our niche is that competitive, you will have a tough time, and someone quoting say $1000 a month (which may sound like a lot) will have no chance of getting your site ranked. On the other hand, depending on the compeition, this may be plenty or even a lot more than you need to pay.

Sorry this isn’t an exact answer, but hope it helps.

Local Marketing, non-etailer, ideas for expanding business?

I am starting a Hi Def tvs and accessories business. We have had a local photo store for years, now we’re getting into the HD market. Our niche: internet prices, savvy consulting, delivery, setup, installtion all at lowest prices.
We are already using craigslist. What about cost/benefit of: local radio ads?, promotions through other local retailers- and which kind?, mailings?, we do have a limited website currently, but we sell local only- so how to SEO for that?
We are also Ebay powersellers/drop-off site and use Constant Contact to email blast our existing local customers with deals.
Other ideas on product line and pricing would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

shoqy answers:

Hi Cliffrock
Websites can still be be very powerful tools for local businesses selling hard goods and/or consulting . . . BUT . . .it has to be done RIGHT.

Most local biz websites die deaths of quiet, no-traffic desperation. I have used a product called Site Build It to build a web site that WORKS… One that delivers 100 times the benefits of a Yellow Pages ad, at one tenth of the cost.

Don’t pay out a fortune on search engine optimization to so-called SEO experts – they try to “trick” or “outsmart” the engines by second guessing very sophisticated and constantly evolving search algorithms. The link below to Site Build It explains how building an honest website will grow your business and win the SEO traffic wars every time.

Good luck, Sarah

David asks…

On a country basis or on a global platform does the SEO on a website function?

Is it true that SEO operates on the basis of a single market or simultaneously are the other markets also captured? What would the best approach be to make it a multi-market system if mostly the SEO works on a single market basis? This problem has been bothering me for quite sometime now as I want my websites to appeal on a global level and not only on a local level. I want these websites to have a really widespread reach. Does anyone have any recommendation?

shoqy answers:

Well, SEO work globally but there is also a local search engine optimization, which is called Local SEO. In local SEO , maps and physical address matters a lot. You can get plenty of tutorial about local SEO . Just google it

Mandy asks…

How do I analyze my website for relevancy for SEO?

I have a local business referral website www.deserthc.com, need for it to be easily found by homeowners looking for services, events or local information. Not sure what keywords I should put for the best SEO/ placement. What is the best way to bring homeowners to our site? Our local marketing efforts have not been very successful, Ad words is expensive! Help please.

shoqy answers:

Google has an adword tool you can use to see how many searches there are each month for a specific keyword. Firefox also has a lot of SEO tool that help analyze a website. The most important thing for SEO is link building. This is very time consuming however, so you might want to look into working with an SEO company. They can also be very expensive, so do your research!

Lisa asks…

SEO for small business local?

I run a service business in a given area. I want to add tags or some form of web reference that is less intrusive on the viewer side of my webpage but that will bring it up in the rankings for my small neighborhood outside a metropolis… example somewhere i dont live— xyz corp in Burbank or Glendale wants to improve his listings without competing with every corp in Los Angeles…
So is there a way to embed tags about the small town i want customers to find me from in the page?
I’m sooo not a web-guy, thanks in advance.

shoqy answers:

Maybe try the Microsoft SEO Toolkit? It’s a free download – website says that it can help you get more hits, control what people see in search results, find problems with websites and reporting.

Your Questions About Ecommerce Hosting

Donna asks…

What is the best ecommerce shopping cart and hosting to use that has everything??

Hi, can you please tell me the best ecommerce cart that has everything to build a databse driven store? Or can you tell me if its better to BUY a cart and customize it or to use a free one? Thanks

shoqy answers:

I personally wouldn’t recommend using a free eCommerce shopping cart script unless you are well and truly prepared to dig into the code and customise everything yourself. Also, don’t expect any help if you encounter a problem.

There are a lot of options on the market and I’ve used a few of them, including X-cart and Sunshop. Both of these are OK but lack flexibility. I recently set up a shop using Interspire Shopping Cart www.interspire.com and it was fantastic. This script has only been on the market for about 8 months but it’s already loaded with heaps of fantastic features…and there’s more to come!! While it is expensive you do get what you pay for and their customer support is second to none.

In terms of hosting, the company above will soon be offering hosting solutions as well. If you’re going to host the website yourself all I can suggest is you don’t be stingy with your money and make sure the server is located in the same country where you conduct most of your business.

Lizzie asks…

what is “Ecommerce hosting solution”?

I wish to know, what is “Ecommerce hosting solution”. I have heard of it and tried to search on the websites. But I am very much confused, what it is and how it functions. Can someone, help on this, with details and examples and anywebsite, which explains this in simple terms.

shoqy answers:

It is about where will you host you e-commerce website: could be your own server, could be shared server, could be a simple hosting like yahoo’s e-store or e-bay’s store.

Jenny asks…

ecommerce website hosting, what is the best? and …?

and is Yahoo ecommerce stores use html? prostores used ssml.
tried prostores and that is the best so far, i want to avoid hosted 100% of the website myself because of time issues. any ideas please show.

shoqy answers:

I’d go with host gator. Here’s a link to get the best coupons, along with a bunch of other extra features:

http://henryhavoc.110mb.com/hostgator.html

John asks…

which is the best ecommerce web hosting site?

which is the best ecommerce web hosting site?
I am a little puzzled, almost all the answers that I have received deal with PHP ecommerce hosting and not ASP ecommerce hosting. unfortunately I am not too familiar with the PHP environment.

shoqy answers:

Just look for a web host that supports the popular open-source eCommerce solutions like ZenCart or osCommerce, or my personal favorite, Drupal’s eCommerce. Look for a host that has the Fantastico auto-installer and you can be up and running with just a few mouse clicks without having to do installation or configure the databases or any of that technical stuff that requires pouring over a 500-page computer manual to figure out.

There ARE some things to consider when picking a web host for ANY dynamic application…

1) Make sure the database server is sitting on the same physical machine as the web server (for speed and reliability)

2) Make sure you have access to CRON (scheduled tasks, for maintenance and automatically notifying search engines when you have new content)

3) A reasonable number of email addresses and sub-domains that you can configure yourself (for targeting your marketing and search engine optimization efforts)

Where to Advertise for affiliate marketing?

So i have gotten into online affiliate marketing selling e books. I have wrote a few articles on what im selling on a few popular article sites, and have also created a website using webs.com. But im wondering where else can i advertise my link for my product? Any forums where i can include it in my signature or good sites to make a page or write an article on? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Also a place to advertise a ref link for a ptc.

shoqy answers:

You need to be a bit more specific here. Are these E Books that you have written yourself, and what are they about? If the work is original I would opt for Clickbank as a starting point, so that you can get affiliates to sell for you. The downside of this is that you will have to pay high commissions (up to 75%). You can try and do a search for relevant forums by typing say “forum+keyword” in Google. (keyword being the subject of your Ebook.)

Charles asks…

Is there a definitive guide to online marketing?

I am looking for something which gives excellent insight into affiliate marketing, online advertsing networks, PPC, SEO, CPC, CPM, CPA, blogs, forums and marketing on social networks, Web 2.0 etc. Also has to be current content – not something written in 2002 or something – less than a year or 2 old

shoqy answers:

There is no definitive guide as such, but there are some great resources out there to help. There’s a site called utalkmarketing.com which has a digital section- http://www.utalkmarketing.com/Speciality.aspx?nav=speciality_digital
It has a best practice section with case studies and also a basic info section if you are starting from scratch. The great thing is, they are all written within the last 6 months or so. Another way in is to look at some books although a lot of these are too old as online marketing is constantly changing. There’s one i use called ‘Marketing Through Search Optimization: How to Be Found on the Web’ which is a good jumping off point and was written in the last 2 years. I hope this helps.

James asks…

How to advertise affiliate link but not in tradicional ways?

I know all about these ” tricks” how to advertise affiliate program links – post in forums, make home page/ blog, register in affiliate marketing webpages and so on but maybe you have another ideas? For example funny movie in the youtube or something like that? Maybe you know some not tradicional ways how to promote?

shoqy answers:

Maybe you should try something a little different than just promoting the link. Maybe you should try promoting yourself first. You know, as someone people can go to when they need help or information. Instead of placing an affiliate link, try promoting a webpage with a product review for your affiliate product. Then give them a chance to join your mailing list by adding a contact form, requiring there name and email address. This take’s a little while , but once you get a nice list of people, then you can earn there trust by delivering some solid info, and I promise they will by whatever product that you are selling.

Ive used this trick and alot of others to to convert prospects and traffic into solid sale’s , sale’s that turn into repeat customers. I learned most of what I know from Ewen, http://tinyurl.com/4cop6z

Robert asks…

learning about affiliate marketing?

Can anyone tell me please which forum or information site would be best to learn about affiliate marketing more in depth? I have bought several things over the last couple of years and besides the confusion i just need guidance and people that will actually help me rather than give me ambiguous answers to my silly questions. Thank you in advance
Thank you everyone who responded i really appreciate it. There is so much to learn and it constantly changes which is worse. I like tims idea of give up and have a beer, but i do like to have a chat so i will enter the forums that have been suggested. I can’t for the life of me work out the bidding on words things and i’m not going to try. I’ll keep to advertising everyone elses stuff on my own website. Cheers Tim and thanks everyone else!

Your Questions About Search Engine Optimization

James asks…

What is the significance of keyword effectiveness index in search engine optimization ?

Is it right to select the keyword which has got high keyword effectiveness index for search engine optimization ?

shoqy answers:

It is important to know your keywords. If you have a product that you sell on your site, ask five friends what they might search for on google/yahoo to find it. Take those different keywords and optimize your page with them.
Also work on your meta tags. Here is an article on how they work: http://www.richkahmer.com/meta-tags.html

Paul asks…

How do I learn SEO (search engine optimization) copywriting?

I’m a mostly-traditional advertising copywriter hoping to expand my digital horizons and am looking to learn SEO (search engine optimization) copywriting. I live in NYC, and I’d rather take an actual class at a location than an online course. Anyone have any good suggestions? Thanks.

shoqy answers:

Hi,
I was in your position just a few months ago and am in the process of starting my own SEO company. I have actually learned a lot just by searching around the internet, you will notice that several names begin to pop up more often than not. Whether you find a good class to attend or an online course you should routinely check out;

seomoz.org
seobook.com
and I also find good info on stompernet.com <—- Has a course coming up.

Brian Horn is also a good person follow for SEO info.

You can find out about the stompernet.com course by going to their page, here is a link as well:

http://www.stompernet.com/products/seo-pro-workshops-and-bootcamps-stompernet/

That should be a good course on total SEO/SEM. I am considering going.

But, if you are just looking to learn about the copywriting aspect you will probably find a huge variance on what is the best way to go and I believe that first and foremost you should just write for your target market. After all, if no one likes your site and hates your copy, then a first page ranking really doesn't matter.

The key really is to pay attention to the keywords you are optimizing for and write about that topic or subject and be sure to include the keyword a couple of times in the actual text.

I hope this answers your question or is at least something you can use. Let us know what class you find and if it turns out to be a good one.

Cheers,
Josh

Michael asks…

Where can i find learning courses in search engine optimization in the Philippines?

Need to know companies or education centers that offer search engine optimization courses.

shoqy answers:

You really do not have to take a course of SEO in order to have a basic understanding of what SEO can do. Here’s an article from Google which is self-explanatory:

The most effective way to advertise on the Internet is
to first set up a website and publish its domain name
on major search directories such as Google.com,
Yahoo.com [at http://www.google.com/addurl/?...... And
MSN.com since 85% of Internet shoppers rely on these
search directories to provide them with goods and
services. In a sense, these search directories are a
very large Internet Yellow Pages.

Nevertheless, should your website or opening webpage
fail to contain "generic" keywords, then anyone using
such "generic" queries will not be able to discover
your website. Your domain name [URL] of your website,
in a sense, will be invisible, undiscoverable.

You may want to consider some simple algorithms which,
when observed and committed in designing of a website
with placement of various critical metatags that can
surely achieve a high search engine presence and
increase Internet traffic to your website. These
metatag strategies work well with published webpages
at Google and Yahoo.

Design: Should you create an extensive Flash-based
website, make sure to fill-in the property entries
such as the Title, Description and Keywords. Failing
to do so, leaves no hard HTML or ALT resource that can
be readily indexed by search robots. Also consider the
Internet audience and their incoming setup. For
example, if they are on analog/dialup, Flash webpages
take too long to load up and therefore analog users
will likely lose interest and discontinue entering the
Flash site. On the other hand, anyone on hi-speed DSL
lines, will welcome Flash pages which load quickly. So
before designing a pure Flash websitge, ask the simple
question, “Who’s my end user – is he on dialup or
DSL?” And if you had to choose between these two users
for maximum marketability, then select analog users
since 80% of most resident users are still analog
Internet subscribers and pure HTML designed webpages
is best for them.

A non-Flash-based website which relies on hard text,
is far easier to be indexed by search robots. Limit
the use of stylized text saved as .gifs since as a
graphic, they are not indexable by search robots.

Avoid use of frames since any number of search robots
are unable to properly classify textual material.

Placement of Metatags:

A ranking or search order does take place with Google
and Yahoo and it begins with the “Title” metag which
should consist of no more than 65 characters separated
by commas. The “Title” should describe in generic
terms, the goods and services, followed by a location
from which the resource is located, i.e., city, state.
The placement of a domain name which is not generic
within the “Title” is not appropriate, unless your
domain name is a major recognizable brand name.

The second metatag is the “Description” which is
usually 25-30 words to form a complete sentence which
best describes one’s goods and services.

And the very last category – “Keywords” are also
somewhat limited to 15-16 words which can be plural
and compound in nature. Again, avoid multiple entries
which could be mistaken as “spamdexed entries” which
is defined as the loading, and submission of
repetitive words into a particular metatag category.
“Spamdexing” when discovered on a webpage and reported
to Google’s spamreport.com can result in the
elimination of your website from their search
directory.

Good luck!

Nancy asks…

I need to find a good search engine optimization service.?

I am running an internet based business, and I need to find a
search engine optimization service that will help improve business while at the same time not break my budget. My products are swords, daggers and knives. We do very well on
point of sale transactions, but the internet side is lagging far behind. Our URL is www.thevillagevendor.net. Any suggestions would be greatfully received.

Lisa asks…

What is the best source for webmaster education and search engine optimization education that is affordable?

I have a new website at

http://www.specialhomeproducts.com

Check it out! I have many new home decor and office decor products, as well as great gift ideas for every special occasion….just need ideas as to how to market this without it costing an arm and a leg….am working on a limited budget. The idea is to MAKE money with it, NOT SPEND every dime I have just to get it marketed and ranked on the search engines. If anyone out there has resources for excellent internet marketing, that is reputable, NOT SCAMS, and is easy to understand for the beginner, let me know! I know amazon.com has several books you can get, such as “search engine optimization for dummies”, or “keywords for dummies”…may have to go with that for now, to save on my expenses…already put TOO much into this project to give up on it….getting several hits a day to the site, but still no significant sales….any help I can get out there would be greatly appreciated. debs3

shoqy answers:

You can do it for free no problem but it will require a little time on your part.

First you need to get two books from the library:

Designing with Web Standards http://www.zeldman.com/dwws/

Don’t make me think http://www.sensible.com/buythebook.html

Reading and understanding these two books alone will put you ahead of 99.9% of webdesigners.

Then you need to read a free, reliable and up to date SEO tutorial. There are only two of these on the web that are considered worth reading.

http://www.seo-blog.com/tutorial.php

That’s it! Read, learn and implement.

Good luck!

Daniel asks…

what do i need to know about internet based marketing communications strategies?

shoqy answers:

You need to have a website for the reason that you wanted to reach your online target audience. A website can be accessed by anyone, anywhere, anytime, that is why you need to identify up front key targeted audiences.

The knowledge of the author in his website blogs is really important because it brings quality and currency of information. The author should also make sure that the content reflects the needs of the intended audience.

The Internet communications strategy should include information on how the site is going to disseminate and market its products .

Your Questions About Amazon Affiliate

Sharon asks…

How do I set up an affiliate website with amazon.com?

I want to set up an affiliate website with amazon.com selling coffee grinders, makers, presses, etc. I read amazon‘s policies and what their affiliate program is about. However, they did not state their requirements about how a website should be structured. I believe they said that I’ll find this out after I’ve registered. When I tried registering, they required that I already have a website up and running, not just an address or something that’s under construction. I’m in a loop. How will I be able to build my site if I don’t know whether it will comply with amazon‘s rules?

I know there are shortcuts, like buying a pre-made templates / website from companies who do this type of stuff, and all you need to do is add products. But I want to do this on my own, i.e. build web pages (which I know how to) and publish the site myself, and not hire these companies. I need help on getting around the amazon.com mystery loop. How should I set up my pages to comply with amazon‘s requirements?

shoqy answers:

Just set up an operational Web site that explains what it is you plan to do. Then register with Amazon.com and proceed to building the online storefront.

Thomas asks…

Am i doing something wrong with my Amazon Affiliate website? I am getting no orders but allot of clicks?

I have recently set up a amazon affiliate website called ukxbox360.com. I am getting allot of clicks, but no orders. I am using google adwords to advertise my sites and the cost is starting to build up and im not getting any orders so no income from the site. Is this usual at first? or is there more i need to do Thanks

shoqy answers:

There is so much competition to sell electronics, it’s really tough to get your foot in the door no matter what you do. You need to come up with a niche product that nobody has yet. Is there anything else on Amazon that you can sell besides electronics?

Michael asks…

Can I sign up for Amazon Affiliate program if I don’t have a website?

I have an idea of posting Amazon Affiliate links on craglist and base.google.com instead of setting up a website. Is it allowed or possible?

shoqy answers:

NO

The Operating Agreement of the Amazon Associates Program specifically says “YOUR SITE” — meaning the associate must have a site. They first review the site for its suitability with the Amazon.com program — if you don’t have a site, then they have nothing to review

http://affiliate-program.amazon.com/gp/associates/agreement/ref=amb_link_597002_1/002-1307555-1149622

PLUS, when you apply, there is a whole section about your website asking for the following information

What is the name of your Web site?
What is the URL of the main Web site you use to send traffic to Amazon?
How many individuals are in your organization?
Select the categories that best fit your site
Briefly describe your site, including the type of items you intend to list.
Primary method for generating referrals

If you’re going to put Craigslist and Google Base as your site, you won’t get approved because those are not sites you own.

Robert asks…

Is it legal to use amazon product description for affiliate site?

I’m going to start a amazon store so Im going to include products there and direct it to amazon

shoqy answers:

Yes, all the affiliates do this.

Donald asks…

How Do I Shorten Amazon Affiliate Tracking Link?

I want a nice compact short affiliate link, like every other program has. Just their site, then my tracking id, and that’s it. I can’t figure out how to do that.

Help a brother out.
Can’t I just use my tracking id, and thats it? amazon.com/trackingid

or something like that
thanks peeps.

shoqy answers:

The best thing, if you have a website, is to use a php redirect page. That way you help brand your own site even more. If that’s not available, you can use a site like http://bit.ly or any other link “reducing” services. Not that I’m advertising their site, but code similar to what is explained on http://www.totallyphp.co.uk/code/page_redirect.htm will help.
